Paper trades and hypothetical results

The $20,000 challenge is a paper-trading account. Trades are hypothetical, at real market prices. Hypothetical results have limits: they do not involve real money, they do not reflect actual execution, slippage, taxes or fees, and they are prepared with the benefit of hindsight. They are not a guarantee of, or a prediction of, future results. Past performance does not predict future performance. Any target, including 5% a week, is a goal and not a promise.

Risk

Investing involves risk, including the loss of your whole investment. Stocks can fall quickly. Options can lose 100% of the premium paid, and they can expire worthless. Short-term trading is especially risky. Do not trade with money you cannot afford to lose.

Data and software

Scores and scans are produced by software from third-party market data. Data can be delayed, incomplete or wrong, and I do not guarantee that it is accurate or current. Quotes shown after the close may not match prices at the open. Check prices and the details of any trade with your own broker before you act.

Conflicts of interest

I may own, or may buy or sell, securities I write about, and I may do so before or after publishing. When I hold a stock I post about, I try to say so, for example “Disclosure: I own $TICKER.” I may earn money from paid memberships to this site. I am not paid by the companies I cover.
